Education Policy Committee Meeting

Due to the overwhelming response for this event, we are at capacity. Please join the Metro Chamber for the next Education Policy Committee meeting on June 18.

Join the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce for the Education Policy Committee meeting.

High-quality education is an essential element of a healthy, growing economy, and the business community should be closely involved in the educational process. The Education Committee will bring together business people and educators to collaboratively address the issues facing the K-12 and higher education systems in Las Vegas. The issues addressed will include funding and resources, educational outcomes, educational methodologies, curriculum, skills gaps, strategic planning, and coordination between employers and educators.

Joining the Metro Chamber for this meeting is special guest Kati Haycock, president of The Education Trust. Ms. Haycock is one of the nation's leading advocates in the field of education, and founded The Education Trust to promote the high academic achievement of all students, pre-kindergarten through college. In particular, the organization seeks to close the gaps in opportunity and achievement that consign too many low-income students and students of color to lives on the margins of the American mainstream.

The Committee is co-chaired by two members of the Chamber's Board of Trustees. All Chamber members and their employees are eligible to participate in the committee. Each committee establishes their meeting schedule and agenda, but is expected to meet at least bi-monthly. Any actions recommended by the Committee are referred to the Chamber's Government Affairs Committee for approval.
