Whether you opt for a traditional or non-traditional wedding, make the event your own. Personalize and tailor it to your tastes and choose options that are right for you and your guests. Combine a traditional ceremony with a non-traditional or destination party reception. There are no rules!
Here are some descriptions to help you decide the direction you want to take with your special day.
Religious ceremony at a church or place of worship followed by a formal party or reception- Usually includes specified religious services and the reception can either be buffet or sit-down dining. Traditional elements can include; Full masses, receiving lines, assigned seating for guests, cocktail hours with hors d’overs and orchestra music. Black tie weddings are usually held in the evening and require specific dress selections for the bridal party and guests.
Ceremonies are less formal and not necessarily held in a church or place of worship. Receptions include buffet style dining and DJ music and dress requirements are less formal. Casual weddings are less structured and can be held at any time of the day or evening.
Ceremony and reception are held at a home or residence of family or friends. Whether formal or casual in style, a home wedding can be very personal and intimate.
Destination
Ceremony and/or reception are held at a getaway or exotic location and can include several days of activities and/or travel. Choosing a resort with all inclusive travel packages make it easier for you and your guest. Consider marriage license requirements when choosing the right destination. Remember Las Vegas has no waiting period, requires no blood test and marriage licenses are available 365 days a year!
Both ceremony and reception have a unifying theme that creates a unique experience for your guests. These types of events are held in non-traditional spaces such as barns, museums, art galleries, botanical gardens or local landmarks. You can include activities and decorations that match your theme or location. Try skydiving or get married by an Elvis impersonator. No holds barred. If you can dream it, someone can make it happen.
