AARP has launched a new movement – Divided We Fail – to amplify the voices of millions of Americans who believe that health care and financial security are the most pressing domestic issues facing our nation. Divided We Fail has broad membership – the Business Roundtable, the National Federation of Independent Businesses, the Service Employees International Union, organizations and community groups across the country, members of Congress, business and civic leaders. This bipartisan movement is educating voters, building armies of people committed to change and publicizing candidates positions so that all Americans can compare where they stand on these critical issues. AARP also offers free tax assistance through its Tax-Aide program, the nation’s largest free, volunteer run tax counseling and preparation service available to taxpayers with middle and low income, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. The 30,000 AARP Tax-Aide volunteers, who have trained in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, now help over 1.7 million taxpayers file their returns each year at 9,000 AARP Tax-Aide sites nationwide.
