The Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Green Roots Program

Want to be "greener," but unsure of how to go about making your business more environmentally-savvy without a lot of time and expense?

The Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce is introducing Green Roots, a new tiered program that gives members the tools and resources to launch, cultivate and expand the green efforts of their businesses. You can start slow or shoot for the stars with this self-audited program.

Here's how it works:

• Green "levels" will be established, starting with easy, low or no-cost steps that any business of any size can accomplish. Members are encouraged to complete at least 80 percent of all applicable level items.
• All important terms for each level item are defined.
• All resources for how to achieve each item are provided as a one stop shop for the convenience of our members.
• Level items with potential rebates or incentives available are indicated with a dollar sign.
• Members can document their progress through on-line downloadable PDF forms. Members who complete each level will be listed in a special "Green Business" category and will enjoy logo recognition next to their company listing, in the Chamber's online directory.

"Green Roots" is a tool designed to help our members make the business decisions that impact customers, employees and the community as a whole. The result will be to improve, the environment in which we all live.

"Green Roots" is intended to be a step-by-step process (four steps total) which is accomplished through the following levels: Roots, Branches, Leaves and Fruit.

	The Roots or Level 1 plants the seeds and is the foundation; level 1 consists of easy, no cost, or low cost items to achieve. You may already be doing many of these. It is a review to help you decide where to begin. Download Level 1 Survey Here Download Facility Evaluation Form
	The Branches or Level 2 is the next steps to keep your business moving in a green direction. Completing Level 2 will help you grow your business, save operating costs, and improve the environment of our community as a whole. Download Level 2 Survey Here
	The Leaves or Level 3 is a more advanced and even "greener" level of committment. Once you have completed Level 3 your business model will be much more envirnomentally focused. Download Level 3 Survey Here
	The Fruit or Level 4 is the most advanced and highest level of achievement. While this level requires the most committment it is intended to help your business flourish and allows you to reap the rewards of your sustainability efforts. Download Level 4 Survey Here

Green Roots is a voluntary program. Each chamber member decides what level of participation is appropriate for their company and how much they can do in any period of time. The program is self-audited by each participating chamber member and we know that your commitment to the chamber values will support this process.

We expect that this effort will grow and blossom into a more detailed and member driven program as you participate and provide the valuable feedback necessary to help us make any changes that will help you.
